Lisa Maarek is a Miami - based director writer, and producer, as well as an undergraduate student at Florida International University studying Digital TV and Multimedia Production.

Always eager to collaborate with local and national filmmakers, she always looks forward to working on new projects. Her crew experiences on set have sharpened her communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Lisa wishes to build meaningiful connections with other creatives in order create emotionally driven visual media.

She strives to incorporate traditional film genres within her work, while adding her own style and twist to a script. She directed her debut short film, Smoke Break, which strongly uses elements of the classic film noir style in a modern and unique way. The film has been accepted into the IndieX Film Festival, Sunscreen Film Festival, Orange & Blue Film Festival, Sunshine City Film Festival, and the Alternative Film Festival and has been awarded Best Actor and Best Film-Noir.

Lisa is currently developing other projects while experimenting with new genres. She is currently in pre-production for a surrealist French New Wave-inspired short and collaborating with NYC-based writer and filmmaker, Rebecka Nepomnichy, to create a feature script with an Americana- thriller style. She is passionate in experiementing with new ways of storytelling and filmmaking.

Being born in the artistic hub of Paris, she has developed a deep appreciation for the arts, especially in film. As someone who appreciates the intricacy of the filmmaking process, she feels determined to create her own film projects, while also using her skills to work on other productions.
